Flicker Test

Reading screen information…DPR —— bit Browser report

A visual aid for investigating flicker

Gray fields, gradients and stripe patterns provide a controlled image while you investigate a flicker concern. This page does not read the display's physical light modulation or determine its PWM frequency.

Keep the display setting recorded

Note the device brightness, picture mode and room lighting before comparing patterns. A change in the webpage's gray value is different from changing the hardware dimming setting. If a pattern is uncomfortable, pause it or leave the test rather than continuing to stare at it.

Camera observations

A camera may show bands or changes that are difficult to see directly. Its shutter, exposure and rolling readout can interact with the display, so the image is not a direct frequency measurement. Keep camera settings consistent when documenting a comparison.

For a quantitative result

A credible flicker or PWM measurement needs suitable equipment and a method that accounts for sampling. Browser APIs do not provide that signal. Use this page as a consistent visual source, and use a dedicated measurement procedure when frequency or modulation depth matters.

How to run the test

Patterns do not use rapid flashing. Camera bands also depend on shutter settings.

  1. Choose a comfortable device brightness.

  2. Observe at different gray levels.

  3. Use suitable instruments and methods to verify PWM.

Patterns support visual inspection. Quantitative color accuracy, brightness, gamut coverage and response time require appropriate instruments and methods.

Frequently asked questions

Can this website automatically certify my screen?

No. It provides display test patterns and browser information. Screen anomalies that persist at the same position need visual inspection and, when needed, professional assessment.

Can I use a phone, tablet or TV?

Open the patterns and guides for your device. True full screen and touch depend on the browser; an immersive page preview remains available when full screen is unsupported.

Do I need to install software or upload data?

No installation is needed. Patterns, calculations and interactions run locally in your browser; theme preferences stay on your device.

What should I do if I notice a problem?

Rule out dust, reflections and display settings. Repeat under the same conditions, photograph defects that remain in the same screen position and check the device warranty policy.
