Monitor Color Calibration

A practical starting point for color calibration

White references, a color chart and skin-tone patches help you notice an obvious cast and compare settings. Use them for a visual check before calibration with an instrument. They do not replace measured calibration.

Prepare the display

Use a stable room light and let the display settle before comparing colors. Record the current picture mode, brightness and color profile. Night-light modes, automatic color adjustments and vivid presets can change what you see. Make one change at a time so that you can return to a known starting point.

White and reference colors

Compare the white-reference pattern, neutral patches and representative colors. The temperature labels describe reference concepts; every patch is still reproduced by the same display you are inspecting. An uncalibrated screen cannot provide an independent physical white reference simply by drawing a different RGB value.

Measured calibration

A colorimeter or spectrophotometer measures the emitted light and can support a suitable calibration and profile workflow. A browser cannot calculate your display's Delta E by looking at its own color patches. For work that requires numerical accuracy, use measurements, an appropriate target and a color-managed application.

How to run the test

Make small adjustments in the same environment. A subjective impression on one screen is not a standard measurement.

  1. Disable night mode and dynamic enhancement.

  2. Inspect white, gray and skin-tone references separately.

  3. Record settings and recheck with the same patterns.

Patterns support visual inspection. Quantitative color accuracy, brightness, gamut coverage and response time require appropriate instruments and methods.

Frequently asked questions

Can this website automatically certify my screen?

No. It provides display test patterns and browser information. Screen anomalies that persist at the same position need visual inspection and, when needed, professional assessment.

Can I use a phone, tablet or TV?

Open the patterns and guides for your device. True full screen and touch depend on the browser; an immersive page preview remains available when full screen is unsupported.

Do I need to install software or upload data?

No installation is needed. Patterns, calculations and interactions run locally in your browser; theme preferences stay on your device.

What should I do if I notice a problem?

Rule out dust, reflections and display settings. Repeat under the same conditions, photograph defects that remain in the same screen position and check the device warranty policy.
