HDR capability hints and reference patterns

HDR involves the display, operating system, application and content together. Browser hints and bright or wide-color patterns help you inspect that path, but they do not provide a hardware certification.

Read the browser hint in context

A dynamic-range media query reports what the browser exposes for the current environment. A negative result does not prove that the panel lacks HDR hardware. Check the operating-system HDR setting and whether the current browser and output path support the intended content.

Inspect tonal and color patterns

Compare dark detail, bright regions and wide-color references while keeping the device settings recorded. The patterns are browser-rendered references, not a mastering display or a luminance meter. Their appearance can change with tone mapping, picture processing and color management.

Use the appropriate verification

Peak brightness, sustained luminance, gamut coverage and an HDR certification require defined measurements. This page does not assign nits or a DisplayHDR tier. If you are checking a particular film or game, verify its actual HDR output path as well as the browser's capability hints.

How to run the test

Ordinary RGB white is not an HDR peak-luminance measurement. Capability hints are not HDR certification.

  1. Check the system HDR setting.

  2. Compare the browser report with device specifications.

  3. Verify the output chain using genuine HDR content.

Patterns support visual inspection. Quantitative color accuracy, brightness, gamut coverage and response time require appropriate instruments and methods.

Frequently asked questions

Can this website automatically certify my screen?

No. It provides display test patterns and browser information. Screen anomalies that persist at the same position need visual inspection and, when needed, professional assessment.

Can I use a phone, tablet or TV?

Open the patterns and guides for your device. True full screen and touch depend on the browser; an immersive page preview remains available when full screen is unsupported.

Do I need to install software or upload data?

No installation is needed. Patterns, calculations and interactions run locally in your browser; theme preferences stay on your device.

What should I do if I notice a problem?

Rule out dust, reflections and display settings. Repeat under the same conditions, photograph defects that remain in the same screen position and check the device warranty policy.
